How to renew my FAA Pilot Licence in other country such as Indonesia?
I have my FAA CPL in year 1997. After this long time, how can I renew my licence in Indonesia? So I don't need to go back to USA which cost me a lot.

- FAA Pilot Certificates never expire. However, you need to have a BFR (Biennial Flight Review) every 2 years with a CFI or FAA examiner. If you don't have your BFR, you can't use your certficate, but it doesn't expire. If you're not planning to fly in Indonesia, then there's no real need to get your BFR. Just get a BFR when you come back to the US. If you do want to fly there, you'll have to see what the law is in Indonesia; if they'll accept the US certificate, and what flight reviews you might need to have done.
- no
- I would think the same way as you would if you were in the states. Do you know any pilots over there? Maybe theres a CFI over there and they can tell ya what to do. Sad to say, I havn't come across that subject in teh FAR/AIM.
- You'll need to contact the Indonesian civil aviation authority for this information. Any flying club at a major (or even minor) airport ought to be able to help you. If you qualify for an ICAO license you should have no trouble.
- Yep the ICAO answer is correct....
- You need to check with the local authorities for air transportation. They could probably have an agreement with the FAA and will give you some kind of "recognition" for your FAA CPL but it does not happen always. For instance, if you go to fly in Spain, all your FAA ratings will come down to a VFR PPL only. Check with the local guys to see what the proper procedure would be for you. Happy landings!
