Bahasa Indonesia?

My friend speaks bahasa Indonesia, but I don't understand why he leaves out some vowels in words like "kamu", he only puts "km" or "kmu". I don't speak it myself but I know that means you. What is "ktemu" ? Hmm I might as well ask if there are anyway websites that can teach me some bahasa indonesia. Thanks

  1. Kamu is means "YOU" "Ktemu" is a word that means "Meet",originally, the word for Meet in Indonesian is Ketemu not Ktemu,we just abbreviated it in indonesian when writing in SMS,or short note..
  2. you're right, "km "or "kmu", is an abbreviation of "kamu" that means "you". and "ktemu" is from "ketemu" means "meet" or "has been found", depends on the sentence. Indonesian, especially teenagers and students, often use these abbreviations (madly), that's because there are only 160 characters can be entered into regular short-message (sms) in hand-phones. and most messages they send, require more than that number. and then, even if they want to send only few characters - say, below 100 - now they use it because it had become habit. unlike abroad, for example in europe, in indonesia most voice-service (talk through the phone) is much more expensive than sms. in some countries, for example germany, talking could costs even nothing. you can contact me if you might - by any chance - need any other help :).
