Advice for a pregnant traveller in Singapore & Indonesia: Good obgyn in Sgpore? Food to avoid in Indonesia?

I know the general rules of eating for prego girls, but is there any food which is normally okay, but better be avoided in Indonesia (i.e. due to hygiene reason, etc)? And does anyone know a good ob/gyn in Singapore? Just in case I need one, I'd rather see a doctor in Sgpore than Indonesia.

  2. If you're eating dishes that include poultry like chicken, always make sure that it's really cooked. Don't eat runny eggs or half-boiled eggs. Otherwise you might get bird flu. And don't eat pineapples. Not because it's unhygiene, but because you might get miscarriage. There are good ob/gyn in Indonesia, no need to go to S'pore. My sister in law go to one in Pondok Indah Hospital, Jakarta. Enjoy your trip...

  4. For ob/gyn in singapore you can go to Thomson Medical Center located at the thomson street (near novena). Any doctor there should be good. This medical center specializes in ob/gyn. Food to avoid: 1. any food sold by the street hawker/the push cart vendors. It's super unhygienic. 2. ice cubes. you will never know what kind of water they use to make the ice cube. most likely they used unboiled tap water. this type of ice cubes contains lots of 'sleeping' bacteria. having the ice cubes in hotels are okay. 3. due to the avian influensa, always check whether the meat and egg are fully cooked 4. when eating raw salad, try to dip it into the warm water befor eating it. 5. always order bottled water. never, ever order a glass of water. you never know what you gonna get. Enjoy your trip
  5. Have a safe travel... But keep in mind..Is this really the time for you to travel? There are many risks..not only the food, the weather, but the people you get contact with..always think of safety and precautions..double...
