Were they Stolen Indonesia?
In malaysia, There is a dish called rendang. It, however is also cooked by down to earth local indonesians. There is also a dish in malaysia called soto ayam. But they also have it in indonesia. All the malaysian food i know is also found in indonesia. Are they stolen recepies?

- Its the other way around. Malaysia "steal" the recipe from Indonesia. Rendang and Soto Ayam is obviously originated from Indonesia.
- im agree with impeger 91 do you know that the malays came from indonesia?
- why it's a big deal - you won't get anythings from that. Just enjoy your rendang and soto ayam ! it's more nice than thinking about those things.
- It is stolen from Indonesia....due to govenment ignorance, some reepies even got trade marked by other country!
- Rendang is originally from Minangkabau, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The Minangkabauan ethnic are famous for their mobility and have enjoy to migrate to try a new life in other regions. You can find a Minangkabauan in many countries. Most of Minang people migrated to Malaysia during 1930 to 1970 and settled down somewhere in Negeri Sembilan State of Malaysia. The Minang people also influenced Malay in many ways such as traditional customs, noble titles like Dato, etc. And of course, they contributed to spreading rendang recipes across Malaysia. Unfortunately, Malaysia hold patent right for Rendang recipe. They lodged patent application before Indonesian think about it. Is it stolen? You can conclude yourself.
- We have Batik, from our ancestor time which is hand print crafts on a silk, came from many city in Indonesia such : Solo,Semarang,Jogjakarta,Bali,Cirebon, etc. Unfortunately Malaysia also had it patent... Oh well who care... I don't live there anymore... And rendang and soto ayam? I love it!!! We have also soto Bandung and Soto betawi (Soto Jakarta), we named it by city's so it's not stolen anymore.... lol...
- well, it's not stolen... it's Indonesian food.
- duhh Malaysians Stole it and they stole Batik and also Wayang, and Kris and put in they're tourism gimmick claiming it from Malasia... what else do they want to steal in the Future? Balinese Dances? what Malaysia has in its culture are only these people in Sarong and Dancing + Rebana similar to Indonesia's Riau Province... nothing else...thats why they had to steal Indonesian, and also Chinese and Indian culture & crusine and put it there in order to make people vist it... just look at Teh Tarik and Paratha (Malay= Roti Canai) where do you think all of those comes from? I 100% doubt it orgins are from Malasyi
- we have western food in indonesia, so does it mean that we steal their recipes? =) malays are originated from indonesia. but some malays are ethnic race from china
- I agree with "royaliscross". They ARE Indonesian food. Never Malaysian food. I go with the rest of the guys who are saying Malaysia steals a lot from us.
- MAlaysia is the one who stole our recipes! I've already tried malaysian rendangs and soto ayams and they taste awful! Rendang is originally from Padang (West Sumatra, Indonesia)... So rendang and soto ayam ARE Indonesian dishes NOT malaysian..
- how about haze? i think it was came from indonesia too
- Malaysia and Indonesia used to be 1 country. That is why the language and culture is similar as well as the people and food.
