Hmm... INDONESIA!!! Are you PROUD to be an Indonesian... or ASHAMED to be an Indonesian?
Lots of Yahoo! Anwers users have told me that Indonesia is bad, but also beautiful. Indonesian government is corrupt, everybody wants bribery, warfreaks everywhere, lots of religious organisation-especially Moslem organisation- terrorize the civic society and act like bully, blackout almost everyday.... O.M.G!! Is Indonesia really that terrible? All I want is to go to watch and meet another Dancing-Girl in Bali (I'm a dancer also, and I really want to see great and beautiful dancers there ;), LOL!!), where they also told me that one of the most beautiful, friendly, and open-minded part of Indonesia. Tell me, is Indonesia really a beautiful bad country?

- im not a indonesian. i am a bangali!!!!!!
- Sad to be true...
- I have been staying in Indonesia for almost 5 years, so evrything you heard about this country is true, good things and bas things, as well. Corruption is the biggest issue. Bali is a very special place much different with the rest of the country. People are mainly Hindu and very open-minded. I am just back from Bali actually. Even if Indonesia kind of sucks, I could consider to settle in Bali and to spend the rest of my life over there.
- well...indonesia is really both beautiful and bad country. actually i'm 40% proud and 60% ashamed... >.< u're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about the government, religius organisation, and the society. they're sucks...plus there is still racism happenned here... bali is beautiful but be carefull there's always had a probability of terrorist bomb, LOL. try to avoid visiting the big city like jakarta or surabaya, there's many demonstration happenned.
- my advice , cancel your plan to indonesia .
- I love Indonesia and I'm proud of it. I'm not proud of the people who run the country, but I'm proud of the people who make up Indonesia. Indonesians are generally nice people. It's true that money talks, but you know what, it happens all over the world, it just so happens on a small scale for us Indonesians. The best thing about being in Indonesia is having money. It's sad but it's true. Having money paves the road for you there. But other people see it differently, those with money see it as an opportunity for greed. I, on the other hand, see it as an opportunity for growth. I've lived there most of my life and I'm sick of seeing the same thing over and over again. At this point, I'm talking about Jakarta, which is the main stream city for all of Indonesia. If I were president, I'd move the capital to Surabaya and retain Jakarta as a business hub. It's too crowded in Jakarta! Traffic is outrageous during rush hours. Pollution is bad. But step out of the rat race..and wow, I can think of hundreds of places to take you out and have a good time. There's the growing beach front properties, malls, china-town style shopping, restaurants, clubs, mountains, and Bali! Blackout? Yeah in some parts, but it has gotten better throughout the years. Then again, if you have the dough, get a Diesel Generator (backup power) like we have ;). Blackout? Ahh no worries, power it up! Ziiinng and you're the only one in the neighborhood with power (10 years ago)..but not now, everyone has a generator! Yes, Jakarta is slowly devleloping. Unfortunate for the lower class, the government needs to develop a better policy for the class, otherwise, I suggest the new generation of upper class to build foundations like scholarships for the poor, job development and programs, etc. etc. I envision building a foundation to offer a University scholarship for a few select. Middle class are now driving Toyotas and Hondas (much like USA), upper class always drove those Mercs and Beemers (if only we had our luxury taxes lowered, hell, half of the autos in Jakarta would be Mercs and Beemers). I'd have two beemers instead of one now..hehe oh well. Given my status, race and religion, I have to respect the Muslim community for their efforts in trying to suppress western culture from going haywire in Indonesia. But what the world doesn't understand is, even though Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country, they're probably the most westernized front of Muslim society. They crave everything from sex, drugs, and alcohol to the popular Japanese rock, Japanese anime, western fashion, western education, western cuisine like french, italian and even McDonalds! That's why, it's no suprising that many westerners get a long with Indonesians. And those who are extreme in trying to fully suppress western culture is just impeding economic activities that Indonesia badly needs after that reduction in government subsidies for fuel. Which means Indonesians now end up forking close to 100% more for fuel. Thus, alarm goes of for inflation! Fuel for Indonesians mean cooking food, transportation, and electricity. We all have to accept the fact that Western culture is dominant, and in order to get the economy going, is to get western influence for their western money. Money, afterall, is the root of all economy, and the root of all good and evil. With money, you CAN do good. Just don't think bad. I'm writing this in my office hours in New York, so email me if you want more info regarding Bali. promiscuous.soul at yahoo.com ---------- I understand that some would even suggest at cancelling plans to Indonesia. I've actually tried to persuade my friend to take a trip there. But you have to understand where my version is coming from. I have it set there, so I know where to go and hang out as far as safety is concerned. Regarding the fun factor, hell f-king yea, money does spoil you that way. Once you ride on the fun train, there's no going back..you just want more and more..cos it's just CHEAP! And Indonesians will love you for spending dollars on them =). I'm happy too! Cos I'm Indonesian! And to finally answer your question: Yes! Indonesia really is a beautiful country with the potential to be one of the greatest countries in the world. It is, afterall, the largest island nation, most densely populated, 4th populous country in the world but ranked 5th since the inception of the EU (which is unfair - but I can't wait till they get ASEAN working). They are a smart population, although fairly laid-back working culture..man..you just gotta love Indonesia.
- I love Indonesia and I am not ashamed of it. It is a very beautiful country and it has very beautiful culture. You are right about it but Indonesia is getting better. Sooo I think Indonesia is a beautiful country and a good country.
- i think Indonesian people have many different answers for this question, but for me,...to be true,..i really proud to be an Indonesian...so many things here good and bad..(every country has its bad,so my Indonesia too).its naturalsources is the no.1 in the world..we are so rich in traditions, cultures, religions and many other things....i have gone to some other asian country, but nothing is so warm and polite than my indonesia..^_^ maybe u have heard many things bad bout this country such as=terrorist, warfreaks, etc...i say thats true...As u know,Indonesian people always gets many influences from aboard, and less of knowledge for filtering it...it coz they can be destroyed themself. what will world say bout my country,..i will still keep my heart and soul for my country...^_^
